The Only 3 Types of brushes You Need to Paint with watercolors

In my watercolor supply guide, I give you a lot of great information on the various supplies you need to paint with watercolors. Personally, I prefer to be a minimalist with my supplies. As a matter of fact, for a long time I used one kind of paper, 3-4 brushes, and three to four colors of paint. It’s only after I got more comfortable with my practice that I started to experiment with more brushes and paper, and expanded my color palette.

If you’re new to watercolors, keeping it simple and minimalistic is a good way to keep your practice easier (while spending less money).

Paint brushes are one way to stay simple. For the most part, there are only three types of brushes you really need to have in your arsenal. In the video below, I go into these and how to use them.

If you still find that three types of brushes are more than you want, then I recommend staying with Rounds. Your rounds can serve you very well, especially if you have good quality brushes and a good variety of sizes…such as a 3, 6 and 10.
